J. J. Grandville

Voici un nom qui m’était totalement inconnu! Un illustrateur et caricaturiste français du 19ème siècle que je découvre grâce à Art Bead Scene Studio et à la 8ème inspiration de l’année. Et comme j’essaie toujours de reprendre un rhytme créatif, c’était une bonne habitude à reprendre. Une inspiration artistique, une création. Oui, mais pas si simple, pas d’inspiration! Comme le seul impératif est d’utiliser une perle d’artiste, c’est à dire une perle fabriquée de façon artisanale par un.e artiste, j’ai fait comme d’habitude, le tour de mes boîtes et des perles qui pouvaient refléter le travail de J. J. Grandville. Après avoir sélectionné différentes choses, toujours rien, et de ce premier tour, je n’ai gardé que les étoiles, que je destinais à des boucles d’oreilles. Et puis, le déclic finalement avec Pérégrinations d’une comète.

That was a name I had never heard, a 19th century French graphic artist, and I discover him through Art Bead Scene’s eighth Art Journey! And as I am still trying to go back into a more regular creative rhythm, this is a good habit to go back to. One inspiration, one creation. I wish it was so simple! And as the inspiration provided did not translate into my own inspiration, I did what I always do for these challenges as the only rule is to use at least one Art Bead, that is go through my stash and select what makes me think of the inspiration work. From that first round, I only kept the stars. I imagined them as earrings, and then something came with Wanderings of a Comet.
