Après les pendentifs, j’ai eu envie de faire des boucles d’oreilles. Elles sont rapides à faire, si on enlève le temps à faire et défaire jusqu’à trouver la bonne combinaison.
Surtout je me fais plaisir en utilisant de belles perles artisanales.
C’est parti pour la série.
After the pendants, I felt like making some earrings. They are quick to assemble, that is , once you’ve found the right combination.
But the best part, is that I can use all my beautiful art beads.

Festival Lights Challenge
Il y a quelques mois, j’ai acheté le kit Festival Lights concocté par Andrew Thornton et nous voici arrivé au jour fatidique où je dois vous montrer ce que j’en ai fait.
Comme d’habitude, j’ai oublié de photographier les perles avant de les utiliser, il va vraiment falloir que je travaille là-dessus.
J’ai profité de ce défi pour essayer de nouvelles techniques pour faire des fermoirs et travailler la résine epoxy grâce à des cours vidéo sur Craftsy.
Tout d’abord un bracelet multirangs pour mettre en valeur le pendentif spécial créé par Andrew,
A few months ago, I bought the Festival Lights kit made by Andrew Thornton and here we are, the reveal day.
As usual, I’ve forgotten to take a picture of the beads before I used them, I definitely have to work on that.
I used this challenge to test some new skills I acquired on Craftsy videos on how to make your own findings and using Epoxy clay.
So first, I made a multi strand bracelet to showcase Andrew’s special component.
Ensuite j’ai utilisé beaucoup des rocailles et autres perles pour faire le pendentif, le fermoir et lier le tout.
Then I used a lot of the seed beads and bigger beads, to make the pendant, the toggle and string everything together.
Enfin, j’ai découpé le cordon de soie pour faire ces boucles d’oreilles,
Finally, I cut the silk rope to make these earrings,

Blue Fantasy Blog Hop
Il y a quelques mois, Lisa Lodge organisait un nouveau défi, Fantaisie Bleue. Je me suis dit non, que du bleu, ce n’est pas pour moi et finalement je me suis laissée tentée, car là,c’est un vrai défi à relever.
Pour ce faire, j’ai décidé d’associer le bleu à de la couleur, ou a des éléments que je n’aurais pas naturellement choisis.
Un premier collier avec un pendentif et un connecteur de Jade Scott ainsi qu’un fermoir papillon de Joanne Tinley.
A couple of months ago, Lisa Lodge from A Grateful Artist – Pine Ridge Treasures organized a new blog Hop, Blue Fantasy and I thought no, only blue, that’s too much for me. But then I thought that is my real challenge and I took it.
To do so, I decided to associate the blue with other elements I wouldn’t naturally have chosen.
A first necklace with a Jade Scott pendant and connector, as well as a Joanne Tinley butterfly clasp.
Ensuite un bracelet avec des perles de verre gagnées lors d’un précédent défi de Lisa Lodge et une breloque serpent.
Then a bracelet with glass beads I won after another of Lisa Lodge’s challenges and a snake charm.
J’ai essayé un bracelet manchette avec du fil mémoire.
I tried a cuff bracelet with memory wire.
Enfin deux paires de boucles d’oreilles, avec des pendentifs Scorched Earth et un colibri pour la première, du laiton et de la chaîne pour la deuxième.
Finally two pairs of earrings, the first one with Scorched Earth tips and a hummingbird charm, the second with brass and chain.
Et un petit dernier avec un pendentif Round Rabbit, peut-être à retravailler…
And a last one with a Round Rabbit pendant, I might modify…

Acier, verre et céramique / Steel, glass and ceramic
J’ai récemment trouvé du fil d’acier recuit, un fil noir qui donne un aspect brut voire industriel aux bijoux. Je l’ai vu utilisé de nombreuses fois et j’avais envie d’essayer. Mais ou en trouver, internet bien sûr, aux Etats-Unis, mais je voulais me fournir plus localement.
Il y a quelques jours, j’ai trouvé un magasin ou j’ai pu acheter du fil de cuivre non traité de différents calibres et du fil d’acier recuit. En bobine. C’est à dire en quantité importante. Voilà qui m’ouvre des possibilités. Tout d’abord d’erreurs, faire des essais, m’entraîner encore et encore sans craindre trop de ne plus avoir de fil, et à plus long terme, fabriquer plus de choses moi-même.
Voici donc ma bobine, je vous épargne les rouleaux de cuivre.
I recently found some annealed steel wire. I had seen it used and I wanted to try it out as I like the rough and industrial look of it. But where could I find some, online of course, in the United States, but I wanted to try something more local.
So a few days ago, I found a shop specialized in all kinds of metals. I found spools of copper wire in different gauges, and annealed steal wire. In quantity. This opens many possibilities, the first one being the possibility to try, train and make errors without fearing to run out of wire. Then I could maybe start making more things myself.
So here is my spool, don’t worry I won’t show you all the copper I got.
Quoi faire avec maintenant? Je trouve toujours difficile de me lancer, d’essayer quelque chose qui n’aboutira peut-être à rien. En même temps, sans pratique, rien n’aboutit alors autant y aller.
Comme je suis toujours sur mon défi Fantaisie Bleue, et que Lisa envoie toujours de grandes quantités de perles, j’essaie de trouver d’autres idées en faisant le tour de mes perles.
Dans ma collection de céramique de Scorched Earth, j’ai repéré ces petites feuilles, qui vont parfaitement avec des perles en verre de Glass Bead Art.
Rien pour le défi, mais pour mon fil pourquoi pas.
What now? I always find it difficult to start, to try something that may end in nothing. But if you don’t practice, you’re not going any where either, so I’d better start.
I was working on my Blue Fantasy Challenge, and as Lisa always sends a great quantity of beads, I was trying to get inspiration from my other beads.
In my collection of Scorched Earth ceramic beads I noticed two little leaf dangles that matched Glass Bead Art beads.
Nothing for the challenge, but for the wire, why not.
Je ne sais pas si elles me plaisent comme cela, elles me semblent déséquilibrées mais pour l’instant je n’y touche pas.
J’ai continué avec le fil, pour un bracelet aux couleurs assorties avec des perles en céramique de Gaea, des perles en verre de Glass Bead Art et Helen Jewellery.
J’ai travaillé mes liens pour qu’ils soient plus fluides, qu’ils bougent mieux. A voir.
I don’t know if I like them yet, they don’t seem balanced, but for the time being they will stay like that.
I went on with the wire, for a matching bracelet with Gaea, Helen Jewellery and Glass Bead Art beads.
I worked on my links, so that they move better. I’ll see.
En cherchant, j’ai retrouvé des perles de Scorched Earth que j’ai depuis longtemps, dans les mêmes couleurs, et comme j’étais lancée dans les ensembles, j’ai continué.
While I was looking for beads, I found other Scorched Earth components I’d had for a long time and as I seemed to be working in sets, I did these:

Au final, j’aime assez le mélange de métal, de la céramique et du verre.
I quite like that mix of metal, ceramic and glass.
Midnight Blossom / Fleurs de Minuit
Dernier défi d’août. J’ai acheté le kit de Andrew Thornton, et pour le voir, vous aller allez sur son blog, parce qu’évidemment, je n’ai pas pris de photos avant. Les tons étaient gris, rose, noir, violet. Avec toutes ces belles perles, j’ai donc d’abord tissé un bracelet, sur lequel j’ai brodé des perles.
Last August hop. I bought the kit on Andrew Thornton’s website and you’ll have to visit his blog if you want to see the kit before I played with it. As usual, I forgot to take a picture!
The colors were grey, black, purple and pink.
So with all the beautiful beads, I first wove a bracelet which I embellished with more beads
Ensuite, une paire de boucles d’oreilles,
Then a pair of earrings,
Et enfin un long sautoir.
Finally a long necklace.
Non, ce n’est pas fini, j’oubliai le dernier bracelet pour mettre en valeur l’élément créé par Andrew.
No, I’m not done, I forgot the last bracelet to focus on Andrew’s beautiful mysterious element.

Haberdashery Hop Reveal

Voilà un défi qui s’est révélé plus compliqué que je ne pensais.
Lorsque Melissa Trudinger de Beadrecipes à proposé ce défi, c’est à dire utiliser des éléments de mercerie, boutons, tissus, rubans… pour faire des bijoux, j’ai tout de suite pensé que j’avais ce qu’il me fallait, j’ai des boîtes pleines de boutons, dentelles, rubans, des sacs remplis de tissus et que sais-je encore…
Mais il ne suffisait pas d’avoir, il s’agissait maintenant de faire. Il y avait certainement une raison pour laquelle je n’avais jamais utilisé tout ce matériel à disposition. J’ai feuilleter un nombre incalculable de livres (une mine, Bohemian-Inspired Jewelry de Lorelei Eurto et Erin Siegel), passé du temps sur Pinterest et tout de doucement, mais vraiment doucement, les idées ont commencé à venir.
J’ai commencé avec un bouton et du fil de soie pour un long collier de perles en bois et son petit renard endormi de Tree Wings Studio.
That was a more difficult challenge than I thought.
When Melissa Trudinger from Beadrecipes suggested this Haberdashery Blog Hop, I immediately thought I had everything I needed. I have boxes full of buttons, loads of fabric, lace, ribbons and other stuff…
But having it didn’t make me create anything, there must have been a reason why I never used it before!
So I looked through many books, and you will recognize inspiration from one particular book, Bohemian-Inspired Jewelry by Lorelei Eurto and Erin Siegel. I spent time on Pinterest and then ideas slowly started to come, but very, very slowly.
I started with a button and some silk cord for a long necklace of wood beads and its Tree Wings Studio sleeping fox.
Puis je me suis enhardie et j’ai choisi des rubans, un peu de liberty, un peu de cuir, un peu d’autres choses pour un bracelet tout léger, tellement léger qu’il est difficile à photographier.
Then I became braver and chose some ribbon, some liberty, some leather, some other ribbon for a very light bracelet, so light it was difficult to take a picture of.
J’ai ensuite continué dans le ruban, de soie cette fois-ci, six rubans tressés, du fil de lin et un pendentif de Jade Scott.
I went on with ribbon, 6 silk ribbons I pleated, some linen cord and a Jade Scott pendant.
J’ai ensuite repris des boutons qui se prêtaient bien à des boucles d’oreilles.
Then I found some buttons fit for earrings.
J’ai ensuite décidé de me lancer vraiment, d’associer ruban, fil et boutons, ce qui me donne cette manchette colorée et spéciale d’après mon entourage, moi je l’aime bien, je me suis vraiment amusée à la faire. Sur un support en laiton j’ai enfilé du ruban de tissus teinté, j’ai ensuite brodé à grand point avec du fil dégradé et cousu des boutons. J’en ai ensuite ajouté d’autres avec des anneaux.
I then decided to go ahead and associate ribbon, thread and buttons which ended in this colorful cuff, quite special according to my husband and children as they nicely put it but I like it. I had a lot of fun making it. I know there is a lot of work ahead on this kind of cuff, but that’s a start. So on a brass base, I
weaved dyed fabric ribbon, then I embroidered it with dyed thread and large stitches, sewed the buttons and added more with jump rings.
Et puis ont commencé à venir d’autres idées, comme de mettre de la dentelle ancienne dans un cadre en verre. D’abord la dentelle originale, puis la même teintée.
And then more ideas started to come, like putting some old lace between glass in a frame. First the original lace, then the same, but dyed purple.
Pour l’instant je laisse le cordon de daim, mais je crois que je ne vais pas en rester là, j’imagine quelque chose de plus coloré…
I’m keeping the suede lace for now, but I think I can see something more colorful ahead. I’ll see.
Et maintenant d’autres idées arrivent petit à petit!
Le plus intéressant dans ce défi, c’est de voir les éléments autrement, de ne pas utiliser un bouton comme un bouton, un ruban comme un ruban… J’entrevois beaucoup de possibilités, que je vais devoir beaucoup travailler pour arriver à les exploiter car il n’est pas si facile de sortir du chemin tracé. En tout cas un grand merci à Melissa pour m’avoir forcé à prendre ce chemin inhabituel pour moi.

The most interesting part was to consider the element in a different way. Not to use buttons as buttons or ribbon as ribbon. I can see many possibilities ahead, I will have to work had to find a new way as it is hard to get out of the usual one. So a big thank you to Melissa for making me take this unusual path, for me.

Deux défis aujourd’hui, alors pour le Haberdashery Hop (Mercerie), c’est LA.

Troisième défi de l’été organisé par Lisa Lodge de A Grateful Artist Pine Ridge Treasures, le Carnaval d’été.
Véritable défi pour moi, voici ce que j’ai reçu.
Du bleu, deux jaunes différents…

That was a real challenge, here is what she sent me.
Blue, two sorts of yellows…
Pour moi carnaval et été sont synonymes de couleurs, et je trouvais que le mélange manquait un peu de punch alors j’ai fais des expériences.
Là encore j’ai commencé petit, avec des boucles d’oreilles en ajoutant un disque coloré de Mermaid Glass.
For me carnival and summer mean colors, and I thought the mix was not punchy enough so I experimented a few things.
Here again, I started small with some earrings just adding a lamp work disk by Mermaid Glass.
Puis comme je voulais ajouter le moins de perles possibles, je me suis lancé dans du tissage, les rocailles ça ne compte pas non?
Une spirale, puis un point un peu adapté pour encadrer les perles jaunes. Après avoir fait ces éléments, comment les connecter? D’autres perles, un peu plus de tissage et un peu de travail du fil d’acier et voilà un collier qui me fait plus penser au Carnaval de Venise, qu’à l’été, mais bon c’est toujours Carnaval.
Then, as I wanted to add as few beads as I could, I started weaving, seed beads don’t count, do they?
So a blue spiral, then I adapted a netting stitch to adjust to the yellow beads. After making all these elements, how was I to connect them together, a little more weaving, some beads, a little wire working and here I have a necklace that reminds me more of the Venice Carnival, than of summer, but that’s still Carnaval.
J’ai pensé m’arrêter là. Mais il me restait encore beaucoup de perles, et dans ce genre de défi, j’aime bien essayer d’en utiliser un maximum pour corser la chose.
J’ai repris du bleu, et cette fois-ci, de la couleur, fil jaune, perles oranges, rouges, vertes, étoiles argentées et j’ai noué le tout.
I thought about stopping, but I had a lot of beads left and I like to challenge myself to use as many of them as I can.
I took the blue and this time added color, yellow cord, orange, green and red beads, silver stars and I knotted.
Plus de bleu, mais il me reste le jaune pâle et le transparent mat. Là, j’ai pioché dans mes perles pour un collier multirangs avec des perles vertes et une perle chat artisanal de Teri Persing, qui fait partie de mes premières perles artisanales, achetée en juin 2009.
No more blue, but I still have a lot of pale yellow and the matte clear ones. I dug in my stash and came out with some large green Czech glass beads and lamp work cat by Teri Persing. It is one of my first Art Bead, I bought it in June 2009.
Enfin, il me restait quelques jaunes pâles, alors j’ai fait deux bracelet à coordonner ou non, mais comme les fermoirs sont aimantés ils ont tendance à rester collés ensemble!
Finally, I had some pale yellow beads left, so I made two bracelets to match or not but as their clasp is magnetic, they have a tendency to stick together.
Voilà, c’est tout pour moi, mais par contre n’oubliez surtout pas d’aller voir ce que les autres participantes ont créé pour le Carnaval d’été.
Et surtout merci à Lisa d’organiser ces défis, d’envoyer des perles que je n’aurais probablement pas choisi et de me forcer à sortir de ma zone de comfort. A tel point que j’ai signé pour son défi bleu!

Je vous remontre les perles du kit que j’ai acheté, j’ai oublié un tube de perles hexagonales, mais vous avez une bonne idée des couleurs.

Here is a picture of the kit I bought, I forgot a tube of hex beads but I think you get quite a good idea of the colors.
Cette fois-ci je n’ai rien ajouté aux perles fournies, mis à part des fermoirs, du fil et des apprêts.
Je ne vais pas vous faire attendre, voici les pièces créées pour rendre hommage à la Terre.

Le fait de ne pas utiliser d’autres perles permet de faire des éléments que l’on peut associer ou dissocier à l’envie et j’aime bien cette idée là.
As I didn’t add any other bead, all the elements can be matched or not with another as you please and I quite like the idea.

Jungle et savane
Entre les différents défis, j’ai parfois du mal à trouver l’inspiration. J’ai donc donc sorti mes boîtes, regardé et trouvé une inspiration animale.
Pour le collier je suis partie des perles en pâte polymère multicolores de Tree Wings Studio et j’ai pensé à la jungle, je suis partie sur des fleurs et puis, je me suis souvenu du magnifique toucan acheté chez Scorched Earth. Between the different challenges and hops, I sometimes have a hard time with inspiration. So I took my bead boxes out, looked through them and found some animal inspiration.
For the necklace, I started from the multicolored Tree Wings Studio faceted polymer clay beads and thought of the jungle. I continued with flowers and then remembered the gorgeous toucan I bought from Scorched Earth. Some cultured sea glass and wood beads later, there was a necklace.

I didn’t stop there, I headed for the savannah with these Beady Eyed Bunny giraffe pendants to which I added bone beads to make these earrings.
