Every month, one of the members of Art Jewelry Elements offers a component with which all the members create a piece. Every month also guests are randomly chosen to create a piece too. This month I was one of the lucky people receiving these wonderful leather feather made by Rebekah Payne from Tree Wings Studio. I had admired them for so long…
I wanted to mix elements and materials, to give a little ethnic look to whatever I was going to create..
I started from the colors to weave an embellished spiral, then I took up the gold/brass with some rings to give some light to the orange and purple.
I added some polymer clay beads from Graceful Willow Beads and Beady Eyed Bunny and finished it with chain in which I wove some ribbon.
Beautiful Karin! Love how you picked up a few of the colors from the leather feather, and how you used such a variation of materials and techniques, and how it all came together so beautifully. Poetic!

Oh! how lovely Karin! Purple and orange is one of my most favorite color combos and I love how you went with mostly purple and fuchsia shades… and then that one bright orange bead is such a nice surprise. Of course, I'm loving the textural element of your bead weaving—I imagine that took quite a while! What a perfect transition to the feather with the triple bicones and rings. The whole necklace has a great rustic tribal feel that's beautifully refined at the same time. Love it! Thank you so much for joining me in this challenge!

Lovely! I am really appreciating the changes in scale and texture – the contrast between the 3 bicones in the large circle links next to the seed beads… very cool!
